In the article by Miessler, he broke down the differences between the Internet, the deep web and the dark web. First off, I did not know that there was something between the Internet and the dark web. I thought it was either you easily do a google search and you’re safe or you know how to access the dark web. The Deep Web was news to me, but I can say with certainty that I still have never accessed that nor do I have any desire to. Thinking back to how difficult it was more me make a “game” I don’t think I’ll be accessing these things anytime soon.

This graphic on one of the articles was fascinating. This was my first time learning about “onion sites” and how tiny the dark web really is. I also was under the impression that the dark web was vast and wide. My thought was that it was place you got lost and that may still be true. This graphic kind of scares me, honestly.

When I read the article about personal data, it alarmed me. They talk about the comparison of sending away your saliva and how that you are aware that you’re sending your DNA away to be tested. When they compare that to your personal data on the internet, that’s scary. This happens they same way when we share data about ourselves on social media posts and especially when we allow our phone to have our location. This is how they customize what is displayed on websites that we go to. They also talked about how maybe the “terms of service” say these things or alude to them but we just check the box and move on. I know I just check the box and move onto what I came to the website for. This article made a little more aware of what personal data I put out there and what I can do to prevent some of that from being out there.
